This will work so long as you place it in some context of importance. Why does it matter if we classify dancing as a sport?
It may be that you are more interested in establishing dance as an 'art' or something similar. (On another note, our last paper will let you do things like "Dance is a cultural icon that has become a powerful new means of expressing human capabilities"--which I think all these shows/movies about dance have started to show)
